color: #000000;\">2 tsp salt (or to taste)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">1 large potato, cubed into chunky pieces (or 4\u20135 baby potatoes, halved)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">4\u20135 green chilies, slit lengthwise<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Juice of \u00bd lemon<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">2 tablespoon avocado oil (or cooking oil of choice)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">1 tablespoon fennel seeds (divided into two portions)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">3 green cardamoms<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">3 cloves<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">1 small cinnamon stick<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">For the coconut paste:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">3 tablespoon grated fresh coconut (or desiccated coconut)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">1 tsp white poppy seeds<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">\u00bd tablespoon fennel seeds<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">3\u20134 of the fried green chilies from above<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Instructions<\/span><\/h3><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Heat your cooking pot or Instant Pot on saut\u00e9 mode.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Add oil and lightly fry the slit green chilies for 1\u20132 minutes until fragrant. Remove and set aside for the paste.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">In the same pot, add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, and half the fennel seeds. Stir for a few seconds until aromatic.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Add the sliced onions and saut\u00e9 until soft and translucent.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Add diced tomatoes and cook until they break down into a pulpy texture.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Mix in turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 30 seconds.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Add chicken pieces and potato chunks, stirring well to coat with the spices.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">In a blender, grind the fried green chilies, grated coconut, poppy seeds, and remaining fennel seeds with a little water to a smooth paste.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Add this paste to the pot along with 2 cups of water, mixing thoroughly.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">If using an Instant Pot, set to Manual\/Pressure Cook for 10 minutes.
