But the not so beautiful side is that just two pieces of extra-crispy Fried Chicken comes in at around 490 calories without the ketchup or another side dish which adds more calories to the meal which is not very healthy. Here are some tips to make fried chicken healthier.<\/p><ol><li><strong>Remove the skin<\/strong>: The chicken skin holds the most amount of fats. What makes classic fried chicken crispy is the coating, which is usually made of flour and spices where we can get rid of the skin without compromising the flavor, which brings down the amount of saturated fats.<\/li><li><strong>Marinate the chicken<\/strong>: Marinating your chicken in buttermilk is the best way to start any fried-chicken recipe as buttermilk breaks down the protein in meat, enhancing it\u2019s tenderness when cooked. Plus you can add different flavours like garlic, ginger or hot sauce. You can marinate it for around 30 minutes or up to 8 hours. Marinating the chicken for too long might give it a mushy texture.<\/li><li><strong>Don\u2019t deep fry your \u201cFried\u201d chicken<\/strong>: For a healthier result, oven-frying is the key. Preheat your oven to 425\u00b0F and oven-fry the chicken.
