Savor the Flavors of Italy with Authentic Homemade Lasagna

Ingredients

For the sauce:

  • 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, sliced thin
  • 1 1/2 pounds grass-fed ground beef
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground sausage
  • 2 Cans Organic crushed tomatoes
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt

For The Filling:

  • 1 16 ounce container Part Skim Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup Grated parmigiano cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

To Assemble:

  • 1 Box (16) of No Boil lasagna noodles
  • 1/4 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

    1. Start by making the sauce: Heat Oil in a large sauce pot. Add onions and saute for a few minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for another minute.

    2. Add the ground beef and ground sausage to the pot, breaking up the large pieces with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook until the meat is no longer pink.

    3. Add the crushed tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 30 minutes.

    4. Make the Filling: Combine the Ricotta, Egg, Parmesan Cheese, Parsley, Salt, and Pepper together in a large bowl and set aside.

    5. Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat the Oven to 375 degrees.

    6. Spread enough sauce in the lasagna pan to cover the bottom.

    7. Place 4 Lasagna Noodles on top of the sauce, slightly overlapping.

    8. Top with 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, 2 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese, and 1 1/2 Cups of Sauce.

    9. Top with 4 More Lasagna Noodles, 1/3 of the Ricotta Mixture, and 2 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese.

    10. Top with 4 More Lasagna Noodles, the remaining Ricotta Mixture, remaining Parmesan Cheese, and 1 1/2 cups of Sauce.

    11. Top with the remaining 4 Lasagna Noodles, the remaining sauce, and sprinkle with the Mozzarella Cheese.

    12. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the top is bubbling.

    13. Let the Lasagna sit for 15 minutes before serving.
