Here’s a unique twist on classic chocolate chip cookies – the addition of sea salt and caramel for an extra layer of flavor. Enjoy these delectable Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or a mix of dark and milk)
  • 1 cup caramel bits or soft caramel candies, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped caramel bits.

  7. Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.

  8. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie before baking.

  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may still be soft – that’s okay; they will firm up as they cool.

  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
