You don’t have to stash the chicken in the freezer if it is to be used in the immediate future. It is okay to store chicken in the fridge for 1-2 days. If you have leftovers that include cooked chicken, you can expect it to last for 3-4 days in the refrigerator.

The question is as to how are we going to store chicken in the refrigerator so that it would last longer? Initially, wrap unwashed pieces of chicken using plastic food wrap, one at a time, creating an airtight seal. Next, store them in an airtight bag and make sure to squeeze out any extra air before sealing it.  Finally, you can store your chicken on the lowest shelf in the fridge to avoid accidental leaks onto other food.

On the other hand, if you want to store the chicken for later use, it would be better to store the chicken in the freezer instead of the fridge. Follow these simple steps to store your chicken in the freezer. For either raw or cooked chicken, wrap each piece of chicken using plastic food wrap. Next, store the chicken in an airtight bag and squeeze out the extra air before sealing it. Finally, store the chicken in the deepest part of the freezer. Individual pieces of raw chicken are good for up to 9 months, while cooked chicken would last for around 2-6 months.
